Research and Development

Biota is focussed on discovery, development and commercialisation of anti-infective products. Our pipeline comprises programs in influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), human rhinovirus (HRV), hepatitis C (HCV), human cytomegalovirus (CMV) and new classes of antibiotics to treat hospital-acquired and community-associated infections, amongst others.

Biota has a series of state of the art, small molecule drug discovery laboratories, including synthetic chemistry suites, analytical chemistry laboratories, NMR, and physical containment level 2 laboratories plus physical containment level 3 laboratories. These laboratories are ideally suited to medicinal chemistry and are appropriately configured to permit work with infectious diseases as well as biochemistry, molecular biology and other associated disciplines. They are staffed with an expert team of scientists, all with higher degrees and strong experience in the field.

Our partners include Boehringer Ingelheim (HCV), Daiichi-Sankyo (Long acting neuraminidase inhibitors for influenza), and GlaxoSmithKline 'GSK' (Relenza).
